Shower waterproofing is a crucial step to your Tile Redi® shower pan installation, or any shower installation for that matter. At, we are here to inform and educate you about shower waterproofing, along with the difference between waterproof and water-resistant.

Tile Redi® shower pans come fully waterproofed and require no additional waterproofing within the pan itself. However, your shower walls still need to be waterproofed. If you are installing a Tile Redi® shower pan, chances are you will be using some sort of cement board for your walls. Cement board is a great water-resistant product that adds stability to your shower, however, it is NOT waterproof. If you do not waterproof your shower walls, you will be exposing your home to mold and mildew, and defeating the purpose of building a completely water tight shower assembly. In fact, if you were to try to install tile directly onto the cement board, water would soak into the cement board, creating a damp area that would cause a lot of damage and quite the headache.

So what can you use to waterproof your shower walls? Simple. We offer a tile shower waterproofing membrane that is installed over your cement board using a modified thinset mortar. Ceramic or natural stone tiles are then installed over the waterproofing membrane with another thinbed of a modified thinset mortar. This shower waterproofing membrane is called Aqua Shield. Blanke Aqua Shield waterproofing membrane is made out of a high tensile fleecing material that ensures long lasting protection from moisture penetration in continuous wet areas such as shower stalls and bathrooms. Simply put, Aqua Shield will ensure that your Tile Redi® shower installation is completely waterproof, and give you the piece of mind you deserve.
